Task 1: Creating a Gmail and an Hotmail Account
STEPS: I visited the websites www.gmail.com and www.hotmail.com. I already had a gmail and an hotmail account so I signed into those account using menu icon .I then Click on drop down and Select contacts/ people. I added each individual/ email using the "new contacts and contacts group list" feature.
I faced a few challenges when creating my email accounts. Firstly, I didn't know how to create a group contact list in either of the email accounts. Secondly, I didn't know how to add contacts in the "group contact list", but I was smart and use the search engine YouTube to learn how to create the groups contact list.
I plan to implement gmail and hotmail email with my students by using it as a means of communication to send homework or research assignments.
Task 2: List and explain Media Categories, Define the Role of Technology and Media in Education and to Distinguish between modern and traditional Technology and their uses.
In this class session it was more of a class discussion than individual learning. Lecturer and students engaged in discussion to state the importance of the Role of Technology and Media in Education. We brainstormed and stated that technology and media is important in education because it acts a teaching/ learning aid within classrooms for both teachers and students.
Also we discussed the six (6) media categories which we stated were:
The lecturer then ask us to close our eyes while she distributed things to us in our hand. Upon opening ours eyes we realized we had all sorts of devices in our hands and she explained that we had to distinguish between them if they were modern or traditional devices. We all participated and had fun because we were curious when she told us to close our eyes which we didn't want to.
I didn't have any challenge with this task because I could have used any device I had to research the definitions and to gives answers to questions ask. I will incorporate this lesson in my classroom by using the basic categories of media to enhance my lessons.
Task 3: Research Learning and Types of Learners
In class we discussed Learning Styles and Types of learners and i had fun. I've learnt that there are three (3) types of learners
I've also learned how about the Learning Theories.
We were placed in groups of two (2) to research a few more concepts that our technology class will be focusing on such as mind mapping, video, podcast, spreadsheets and audio. my group got mind mapping. The challenges I faced while completing my research was that I didn't know what topic to create my min map on. It was puzzling and tiring but by the grace of God my colleague and I figured it out.
